On December 4, 2023, at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, a meeting was held between the Minister of Finance Mr. Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor and the Chairman of the Saudi Development Fund Mr. Sultan Abdulrahman al-Marshad. During the meeting, both sides expressed their views on the issues related to the implementation of the joint investment issues in the strategically important areas, especially in the energy sector and real sectors of the economy, and also expressed their readiness to further expand and strengthen cooperation. At the same time, during the meeting, a ceremony was held to sign a loan agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Saudi Development Fund for the Rogun HPP construction project. This agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor, and the Chairman of the Saudi Development Fund, Mr. Sultan Abdurrahman Al-Marshad. The main objective of the agreement is to participate in financing the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant to increase the production of the renewable energy and promote the “green economy” in the Republic of Tajikistan. The total amount of the agreement is USD 100.0 million and is fully financed by a concessional loan allocated from the Saudi Development Fund.
